Blog Assignment #3

Laugh it up, Republicans, but a soda tax is a serious response to a deadly serious problem by David Lazarus.

The author by the name of David Lazarus has commented upon the taxing of sodas in California and I can say that he is totally right in his opinion stating ,"In fact, study after study shows that the more sugary drinks a person consumes, the greater the likelihood that person will end up obese. A review of such research last year in the journal Obesity Facts found that 93% of studies reached the same conclusion: There is a link “between the onset of overweight or obesity and the consumption of sugary drinks in both children and adults.", this is very significant and important because the information given is like seeing the future of many kids when they grow up, which means, shorter life span and less physical activity of when those kids grow up. Lazarus has pointed the finger to the adults who obviously do not set the example for their children or themselves to increase their physical activities. Davids argument is the increase of the soda tax but also the health of many children and adults. I believe that yes, we must start somewhere to help children and adults become more active and drink more water instead. His credibility is obviously present by the fact that he states bills from democrats and gives multiple views of obesity of African Americans and hispanics. In conclusion, David Lazarus has set a good example and a good opinion upon the forwardness of the bill of taxing soda and the health of many children/adults.
